Description

"stop making new species phee" i said, like, three species ago

i'm really enamoured with these, though! basically they're little fairies who produce silk fibres and weave their own wings over the course of their lifetime ;v; they were indeed inspired by the lacewing insect, which are really cute… but for the sake of myself, because i only know how to draw mammals, they're almost entirely human-looking v_v pointed elf ears are optional!

they're super fashionable so i'm excited to do some adopts! i'm kind of excited to have a human-ish closed species, haha? i've written a bunch more lore about them (i literally don't know how to shut up… how can a visual artist be so tl;dr i've never written a decent fic but tell me to summarise something and i can bang out 500 words without blinking) and feel free to ask any questions you're curious about!

LACEWINGS info sheetLacewing fairies are weaver-tailor woodland sprites with the appearance of tiny humans, differing only by their antennae and delicate wings. They spin fibres from glands on their neck and wrists, like spiders and silkworms, which they can weave into a variety of fabrics. A group of lacewings is called a loom.
There are two types of lacewing silk: a fine fibre from their wrists, and a heavier, coarser fibre from their necks. Both types are soft, strong, and insulate well; the fairies themselves also tend to be very skilled and tidy weavers and tailors. Lacewings can trade their fibres, fabrics, and clothes to other species for various goods and services. However, because they are so small, the amount of silk each loom can produce is very limited, and so lacewing products are usually considered very rare and expensive luxury goods.
WINGS
Lacewings each make their own wings by spinning, weaving and patterning their own silk. Most traditionally, they weave their silk into lace patte

lacewings are a closed species; please don't make your own right now! (if you're looking for free lore, i do have catresi)
